Two non-profit organisations stand behind Protección y Descanso: the foundation in Ecuador and the support association in Germany.
Riobamba, Ecuador
The foundation was set up by parents of people with intellectual disabilities. Today it also has helpers who have no relatives at the centre. The foundation runs the day centre and employs its staff.
It has been registered with Ecuador's Ministry of Social Affairs since 18 December 2002 under number N.062DEL and is recognised as a non-profit.
Willich, Germany
The association was founded by people in Germany who knew the project in Riobamba. It raises money, looks after members and sponsors, and reports on the project on this website.
Registered with the local court of Charlottenburg (Berlin), no. 23120 Nz. Recognised as a non-profit by the Viersen tax office, tax number 102/5865/1257.
